San Francisco is proud host of a new reality show called “How to Get the Guy” that’s unfortunately not a descendant of Will and Grace, Queer Eye, The L Word, American Idol etc. Also a biodefence lab is coming to the East Bay and SFist teaches wine pairing. Morning Roundup: Trains Running On Time Edition

New Law Protecting Free Speech Takes Effect

More than two years after 400-plus peaceful protestors were illegally arrested in Pershing Park during anti-globalization protests, a new District law protecting public assembly and the freedom of expression has gone into effect. The First Amendment Rights and Police Practices Act of 2004, whose enactment was spearheaded by Councilwoman Kathy Patterson (D-Ward 3), was signed on Jan. 27 of this year and took force on April 13. D.C. Metro Action tipped us off to tonight’s screening of, Unconstitutional, an ACLU-sponsored documentary. The hour-long film, written, directed and produced by Nonny de la Peña, examines the impact of the Patriot Act on civil liberties and questions whether it goes too far. Marijuana Ad Back in Metro

The ACLU and a coalition of groups supporting drug law reform have announced advertisements questioning the wisdom of draconian drug laws will return to the metrorail system – specifically the Union Station and Capitol South stations. The advertisement was banned by an amendment to a 2004 spending bill which would have withheld federal transportation funding from any local transit authority which accepted advertisements critical of current drug laws.
