It was halftime. The Dallas Mavericks were leading the Miami Heat, 53-51, in the game that could end — and ultimately did end — the NBA Finals. As such, the Dodos had no idea why they had such excellent attendance at their show.

You would be hard pressed to find a power-pop band as well received and respected as The New Pornographers. When the Dodos last visited D.C., we were so impressed that we had considerable difficulties keeping our excitement down to one paragraph. The group’s youthful exuberance was just barely outmatched by their technical skills, and they excelled at making surprisingly full-bodied sounds using primarily drums and guitar.
