Weekly Music Agenda
MONDAY >> From the haunting depth she brought to The O.C., her captivating live shows, her work with Frou Frou and all the x factors in between, Imogen Heap and all her British goodness sold out tonight’s show at the 9:30 Club. If you’re hankering for a game of Hide & Seek, Craigslist has a couple options. Late show, 10 p.m. TUESDAY >> We’re a bit surprised that the Trail of Dead show at 9:30…

Death Cab For Cutie @ 9:30 Club
We here at DCist go to a lot of concerts. A trip to the 9:30 Club is usually less “event of the season” and more “Wednesday.” Last night’s Stars and Death Cab For Cutie show was a resounding exception. This is one we’re not gonna forget anytime soon. Both bands put on nearly flawless shows that really raised the bar. Unless you’ve been living under a rock (read: not reading music magazines or watching The…

Fall TV Preview
Get ready to set your DVR’s and TiVo’s, D.C. The major networks have already started rolling out their new line-ups, but this week there are seemingly unlimited primetime viewing options as the new fall TV season kicks into high gear. Family sitcoms are back, as are shows about aliens. Where does D.C. fit into this prime time muddle? Lucky for us, it looks like the political drama is still going strong. We’ll have more then…

Palmeiro Suspended for Steroid Use
Continuing in what has been a rough few months for baseball, Rafael Palmeiro of the Baltimore Orioles — the team many District residents called their own prior to the arrival of the Nationals — was given a 10-day suspension today for steroid use, reports the Post. The O’s first baseman, who only two weeks ago celebrated his milestone 3,000 hits and 500+ home-runs, is the tenth player suspended so far this season for failing steroid…

Who’s Our Seth Cohen?
With The West Wing in the off season, there aren’t any melodramas dedicated to D.C. on the horizon. No big deal really, since we prefer the escapism provided by shows set in more affluent environs like The O.C. It’s really just nostalgia for the days of 90210 coupled with wishes that a club like the Bait Shop existed when we were in high school. We wonder what such excitement would be like in the District….

An L.A. Story
When dealing with terrorism, national security, top secret intelligence officers and the like, Washington, D.C., is typically the setting for high-stakes drama. But the folks over at Fox, with their hit show “24” seem to ignore us. They’re fixated on Los Angeles as the nexus of all things terror. Granted, in real life, LAX has been targeted by terrorists, but last night when “24” characters were talking about someone or something being shot or blown…

Morning Roundup: Teens Dress Like ‘The O.C.’ Edition
We hope you all had a good Thanksgiving. The weather today should be sunny with temperatures in the low 50s. UDC Gave Free Housing to Athletes: Who knew that that the University of the District of Columbia’s official mascot was the Firebirds? We certainly didn’t. The W.Times continues to follow the basketball scandal at UDC, which has forced the university to cut its basketball program. The NCAA violations? Housing student athletes for free. From Suitland…

Compensation Issues for Angelos
Adding to the list of subjects DCist wanted to tackle during our server downtime is the staredown Peter Angelos is having with Major League Baseball over his ridiculous claims of ownership of the D.C. market. DCist is shocked to the levels that MLB is going to satisfy Angelos’s demands for reparations when we land the Expos. Talks are currently ongoing regarding giving Angelos an annual lump sum payment should Orioles revenue fall below a certain…

Jon Stewart vs. Bill O’Reilly (Round 1)
We’re a little late on this on, but we thought it was better late than never. Media darling (or maybe just darling in general) Jon Stewart of the Emmy winning Daily Show was a recent guest on The O’Reilly Factor, with Bill O’Reilly. The Daily Show has built up quite a respectable reputation over the years and attracts more then its fair share of Congressmen, Senators, and know-it-all political pundits. O’Reilly was respectful enough (or…
