The Sweetlife Festival, sponsored by good-natured salad-makers Sweetgreen, announced the lineup for its 2012 edition today. The leafy vegetables might be locally sourced; the indie rock and hip-hop acts listed today for the April 28 concert are anything but.

Spoon Makes Good on Promise of 2nd Show
Spoon front man and friend of DCist Britt Daniel has left us another update regarding their upcoming performances in the area. Yes, that’s right, we said “performances.” Plural. As he hinted at in his last comment, the band is keeping their 10/23 date at the 9:30 Club with The Ponys following the 10/22 gig with The Shins at Merriweather. Here’s what Britt had to say: Hi again. We did finally figure out a way…

No More Spoon Shows at 9:30 this Fall Updated
We’ve gotten a couple emails wondering about the strange things afoot with the two scheduled Spoon shows at the 9:30 Club in October. In case you haven’t heard the somewhat confusing story, Spoon booked two nights (October 22 and 23) at the 9:30 Club, and tickets went on sale August 9. Sometime last week, tickets mysteriously stopped being sold, without explanation. Then this past weekend, people who’d already purchased tickets received the following email:…

The Shins @ DAR
There isn’t much to criticize about a show that is packaged so neatly, so near perfect in sound quality, and inclusive of all of the right elements, that listeners go home feeling happy and fulfilled. The Shins’ set last night at DAR Constitution Hall was just that. They performed a mixed batch of songs from all of their past albums for the fans who bobbed up and down in their seats, hesitant at first but…

Go Home Already: You Better Check Yourself
>> Travel + Leisure covers U Street and Logan Circle. Entire neighborhood now plans to move to Northeast. Also, we know it’s technically correct, but does anyone actually call the downstairs at Saint-Ex, “Gate 54”? We’ve never heard anyone say that out loud. Commence bashing Travel + Leisure’s coverage, a la The New York Times, in 5, 4, 3 … >> Ward 4 Candidate Muriel Bowser kicks off her campaign by granting an interview to…

Monday: We love to start our weeks with a bang. Go have dinner in Little Ethiopia, then make your way to DC9 for some good old-fashioned punk with The Vibrators, The Screws, and Corrupted Youth. Bang! $8. Tuesday: Presumably, at some point, Sufjan Stevens is going to finish serenading the Rust Belt and start penning tributes to the Mid-Atlantic. And what we all want to know is, is he going give the District some love?…

The Hot Ticket
It’s been a good summer. For DCist it has, anyway, filled with cheetah cubs and buttersticks, Nats games and Borf sightings, and lots of sweaty, booze-soaked cookouts. But fall is coming, people, and it’s time to put the flip-flops aside, say goodbye to the interns, and fill out your autumn dance card. DCist humbly offers the following suggestions. Oh, they grow up so fast. One day they’re lil, playing hoops and making MTV videos, the…
