The lawsuit alleges the ongoing construction to expand the I-495 toll lanes “has and will cause severe damage” to health, property, and the environment.
The project’s future has been in question after new Maryland Gov. Wes Moore signaled he wasn’t in favor.
“This is essentially a vote of no confidence for the project” to add lanes to portions of I-495 and I-270, said Montgomery County Councilmember Evan Glass.
The decision to sell was not a response to the pandemic, but rather a move to get more funds to invest in projects like the Beltway and I-270 expansion in Maryland.

The public will be able to comment on the study for the next three months.
