Georgetown Gets Streetcar Tracks to Nowhere
Georgetown is getting new streetcar tracks. Except that they don’t go anywhere, but that’s the whole point.
A confused French tourist tried to get from one side of a Metro station to the other by walking across the tracks.
If it feels like Metro is being extra sluggish this afternoon, it’s because it really might be—orders were giving today for trains to travel no faster than 35 mph on above-ground segments if the tracks get too hot.

This Weekend’s Metro Work: Everyone Suffers!
Every Metro line will experience delays due to track maintenance and repairs this weekend. Those who were on the train were told that the train was out of service and that they had to leave the train — one person who left the train told DCist that the smoke smelled like “really bad burning rubber.”

But the laying of tracks will cause two intersections on H Street to be temporarily closed this week. On Wednesday, August 26, the intersection of 4th and H Streets NE…
Houston Transit Authority volunteer Eliot Swainson, left, who came to the aid of a passenger who had fallen on the tracks this morning, gives directions to another Metro passenger. We reported this morning that a woman fell on the tracks on the Red Line to Glenmont at the Gallery Place-Chinatown Metro station around 9:30 a.m. DCist has now learned that the woman narrowly avoided being struck by an oncoming train — largely due to…
