This Weekend’s Metro Work: Everyone Suffers!

Every Metro line will experience delays due to track maintenance and repairs this weekend. Metro will be performing some big work on Saturday and Sunday, like welding, installing cross ties and performing upkeep on bridges and platforms — so be sure to check out this list before you head out. Metro recommends building in a 30 minute delay for travel on all lines starting this evening and ending at closing on Sunday.

Four People Rescue Man From Anacostia Metrorail Station Tracks

We Love DC reports on some more people who leaped onto Metrorail tracks to help a person who had fallen off the platform. A man in a motorized wheelchair slipped onto the tracks at the Anacostia station last night — but four people quickly sprung into action and, with some help, managed to free him.

Smoke From Brake Malfunction Causes Metro Disruption Outside Brookland-CUA

Around 10:30 a.m. this morning, a Red Line Metro train, heading in the direction of Shady Grove, was taken out of service after smoke was discovered on the tracks outside of the Brookland-CUA station. Those who were on the train were told that the train was out of service and that they had to leave the train — one person who left the train told DCist that the smoke smelled like “really bad burning rubber.”
