Gay Prosecutor Appointed to Virginia Judgeship
After being rejected in May by the Virginia House of Delegates, today gay Richmond prosecutor Tracy Thorne-Begland was appointed to a District Court judgeship by a panel of Circuit Court judges.
Though the Virginia House of Delegates recently voted against appointing gay Richmond prosecutor Tracy Thorne-Begland to a District Court judgeship, the Post reports that lawyers at Richmond’s five largest firms are pushing to have him appointed instead by Circuit Court judges.

Virginia Rejects Gay Prosecutor for Judgeship
Today the Virginia House of Delegates rejected Richmond prosecutor Tracy Thorne-Begland for a post as a General District Court judge because he is gay, supports same-sex marriage and once questioned the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy.
