Metro says it’s maxed out on operators and equipment and can’t add any more bus service. DDOT says pop-up bus lanes aren’t needed yet.

Though overall service on Metro is increasing and weekend fares are being slashed, some area residents still aren’t getting their bus route after Labor Day.

Metro is beefing up service to entice commuters and revelers back to the transit system.

The transit agency’s board had requested a top-to-bottom look at fare and service in April to prepare for an eventual post-pandemic era.

The deal will increase rail service on Amtrak and VRE, letting trains run more often, faster and on their own dedicated tracks.

The Acela has long attracted business travelers looking to pay a little more and get there a little faster, but now Amtrak says it could compete with air travel.

While Elon Musk’s Hyperloop project has hype on its side, The Northeast Maglev and Amtrak have their own plans to bring high-speed rail from D.C. to the Northeast.

Metro recorded 275,000 trips by 11 a.m., and 470,000 by 1 p.m.

Riders should expect system-wide delays.

They are testing the signs at Metro Center, Gallery Place, L’Enfant Plaza, and Union Station.
