Gohmert’s Concealed Carry Proposal Fails
A proposal by Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) to allow residents of other states with conceal carry permits to similarly carry concealed weapons in the District failed today in a surprising 24-3-1 vote, with a large number of Republicans siding with Democrats in opposition.
Seeing as how congressional Republicans have tidied up the federal budget and put the country back on sound fiscal footing, it seems like they’re more than happy to lend their services to the District’s own local budget.
Of the two House subcommittees tasked with overseeing the District, one will be led by a moderate Republican with local roots — and the other by a freshman Tea Party member from South Carolina. This should be interesting.
