Last week, a man was arrested for vandalizing trees in the Bloomingdale and Truxton Circle neighborhoods. Turns out he damaged more 750 trees.

Yesterday morning, we noted that a man was shot and killed near the intersection of North Capitol Street and Florida Avenue NW around 11:10 p.m. on Wednesday evening. More details are now coming to the surface in the crime: the man killed was 33-year-old Bloomingdale resident Billy Mitchell, who was reportedly shot in the stomach while walking home from a theater.

Another violent daytime crime in the District to report this afternoon. At approximately 2:50 p.m., two transgendered men were stabbed in front of 209 Q Street NW, D.C. police said. Both of the victims were transported to area hospitals, where one of them died a short time later. Police would not speculate on a possible motive in the attack, though a suspect is said to have been spotted fleeing the scene before first responders arrived….
