Uber says D.C.’s regulations about credit card payments in taxis will force it to end its taxi-hailing service next week. City officials say that’s bunk.

Plans to have all D.C. taxicabs accept credit cards by the end of March have been pushed back by a few weeks.

The sedan-by-smartphone company Uber is making the most of its newfound legality in D.C. with the introduction today of service that will permit users to reserve standard-issue taxicabs.

Add New York City to the list of places where Uber is running into trouble. The company, known best for its luxury-sedan-hiring mobile application, is shutting down another of its operations offered by its New York branch.
