Virginia Senate Agrees to Fund Schools and Metrorail, but People Can Pay for Mandatory Ultrasounds Themselves
The Virginia Senate yesterday passed an $85 billion two-year budget funding schools, roads and other infrastructure. But an amendment that would have helped women pay for newly mandated ultrasounds was defeated.
Speaking on WTOP today, Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell insisted that a bill that would mandate ultrasounds “protects the dignity of women” by “providing them with all the information” before they choose to get an abortion.
