Update: After Thousands Of D.C. Unemployment Payments Stalled, Major Banks Will Refund Overdraft Fees
Those affected should have payments by Tuesday or Wednesday, the city’s unemployment office said.
“This kind of fraud truly can happen to anyone, and we need to remain vigilant,” Hogan said in a tweet on Wednesday.
It’s unclear when the new benefits will kick in, due to federal regulations and administrative costs.

Months Into The Pandemic, Many D.C.-Area Residents Still Haven’t Gotten Their Unemployment Benefits
They’ve spent hours on hold, trying to get answers about their benefits.
D.C. Attorney General Irv Nathan filed the first wave of lawsuits against current and former public employees accused of taking unemployment compensation they were not entitled to receive.
District officials elaborated more on the allegations this week that as many as many as 150 current and former city employees allegedly drew unemployment insurance payments at the same time they earned their regular salaries.
