The D.C. Council could vote on Nov. 1 on whether or not to extend the COVID vaccine mandate for students.
Students will also have until October or November to show proof of routine childhood vaccinations before they’re barred from attending class.
Although Mayor Bowser lifted the vaccine mandate for businesses this week, several bars and restaurants will still require patrons to show proof of vacciantion.
Ward 1 Councilmember Brianne Nadeau says Mayor Muriel Bowser lifted the vaccine mandate “without regard for the needs of vulnerable residents.”

The Big Board’s Liquor License Will Remain Suspended For Flouting Vaccine And Mask Mandates
The Big Board’s liquor license suspension could be lifted soon. But the bar still has to resolve licensing issues with other D.C. agencies.
As of Tuesday, businesses in D.C. will no longer have to check that customers have gotten the COVID-19 vaccine, and starting March 1, the indoor mask mandate will also be lifted.
The vast majority of county residents who testified at a public hearing Tuesday before the Council said they opposed the mandate.
Starting Saturday, all patrons 12 and older at restaurants, gyms, music venues, and more will be required to show proof of at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
