Virginia McLaurin had a 108th birthday celebration with two Harlem Globetrotters and a classroom full of students in Brookland.

McLaurin was honored for her contributions as a foster parent, school volunteer, affordable housing advocate, seamstress and au pair and “outstanding years of public service” in D.C.

Days after a story highlighted the plight facing Virginia McLaurin, the 107-year-old woman who charmed the Obamas in February.

She’s volunteered for more than two decades with the United Planning Organization, which throwing her a “surprise” birthday party.

So far, it’s raised nearly $8,000.

Virginia McLaurin said she never thought she’d see a president of color.
