Standout performers include Festival opener Tararam—known around the world as “Israel’s Stomp.” Performing their signature blend of rhythm and movement, they produce percussive music from ordinary objects, industrial tools, and originally designed instruments. If bluegrass is more your tune, take a trip to AMP for a double bill performance led by acclaimed musician Andy Statman. Closing the Festival is WJMF Master Artist (and Juno award-winner) David Buchbinder’s Nomadica, which celebrates the joyful music of Arabs, Roma, and Jews.
Now in its 18th year, the Washington Jewish Music Festival brings the best of the world to the nation’s capital, exploring the intersections of Jewish music and diverse genres from around the world. This year’s lineup pulls from the sounds of Cuba, Israel, Pakistan and Ethiopia, and closer ports of call like Brooklyn and Appalachia.
