D.C. Attorney General Karl Racine sued New TSI Holdings in March for allegedly violating the District’s emergency protocols and putting its patrons at risk.
The lawsuit alleges the gym failed to uphold rules outlined in Mayor Muriel Bowsers’ emergency executive order.
The D.C. Attorney’s General Office had more than 50 complaints about the gym’s billing practices during the pandemic.
The lawsuit alleges that the gym has not processed membership cancellations or credited fees paid back to members as promised.
D.C.’s attorney general has threatened legal action.
Back in 2016, Town Sports International had to pay $20,000 to customers that the A.G. alleged it had duped about the gym’s cancellation policy. Now, he says they’re doing it again.
Many members were told that they could cancel at any time by informing a manager or desk employee and then continued to be charged.
