Residents with disabilities have fewer options for getting around the city.

The DCTC is offering grants to cab companies to put more wheelchair-accessible cabs on the ground.

All Souls Memorial Episcopal Church, which has been at the corner of Cathedral Avenue and Woodley Place NW for 102 years, says it will spend $1.6 million to “modernize and upgrade its physical plant with an elevator and accessible restrooms.”

The number of public accommodations complaints lodged last year was small. But officials tasked with advocating for the disabled think the problem is much bigger.

The store’s entrance features three stairs, making it impossible for those in wheelchairs to use. But a Dunkin’ Donuts spokeswoman says those in wheelchairs can enter through the building’s front lobby.
