Gray Swears In New Youth Mayor
Everyone knows that the District of Columbia has elected six different people as its mayor since Home Rule was instituted in 1973. But did you know that the city has also had 53 Youth Mayors during that same time span? “Got a lot of turnover there, don’t we?” remarked Mayor Vince Gray this morning, before clarifying that there’s Youth Mayors at various levels of the Mayor’s Youth Leadership Institute (MYLI). The latest? David Williams, who was recently elected the 53rd Youth Mayor of the District by 400 participants in the MYLI.
