Out of Frame: Life in a Day
Can you crowdsource an entire feature film? Of course you can: getting a massive number of people to respond to an online call to action is the easy part. But can the result be something worthwhile? When you’ve got talented filmmakers guiding the project, as is the case with Life in a Day, you can not only get worthwhile results, but even something approaching extraordinary.

Albert Haynesworth: A Brief YouTube Retrospective
Before you rush out to purchase that ten-dollar Haynesworth jersey — it’ll go great with your Jason Campbell, Jason Taylor, Ladell Betts, and Antwaan Randle-El collection! — we thought we’d try to encapsulate two years of Haynesworth into but a few easily digestible video clips. It was pretty easy.

Bryan Weaver: Still Quite Good At This YouTube Thing

During today’s Washingtonian chat with food critic Todd Kliman, one chatter asked Kliman for his opinion about a YouTube channel started by General Store chef and owner Gillian Clark, which features a number of video reenactments of customer requests and behavior. Clark has gotten in trouble in the past for her somewhat less-than-polite behavior toward customers. The chatter notes: “The bulk of [the videos], under the title “A General Store Re-enactment” seem to consist of Gillian and Robin mocking their customers…But this public mocking of the people who want to give her money seems to be beyond the pale.” Kliman agrees with the chatter, due to what he views as a lack of humor in the videos.
Yours truly was doing a little perusing of the offerings on the ol’ YouTube last night, when I stumbled over the glorious video above. Seems innocuous enough, right? It’s just Freewayjim — a person who drives around the country with a camera strapped to the dash of his car to record the drive for posterity, or something — taking a ride around the highways of northern Virginia and the District. But hammering down what makes this video so great is no small feat.

Gray YouTube Ad Pulled Down After NBC4 Objection
It went as quickly as it came. On Tuesday, mayoral contender Vince Gray’s campaign rolled out a YouTube ad in which Mayor Adrian Fenty is seen apologizing to an irate resident for apparently not doing his job. The implication of the ad was clear — Fenty has fallen short, especially with the District’s neediest residents. Today, that ad is gone, pulled from YouTube.
