D.C. Council Planning In-Person Return Next Year, But Virtual Hearings Likely Here To Stay
While it’s likely that D.C. Councilmembers will cast votes in person again starting in mid-January or early February, public hearings are likely to remain virtual — or at least hybrid — for the near future.
“My view has been to be patient and not to force people unduly by saying, ‘Alright, we’re reopening,'” says D.C. Council Chairman Phil Mendelson. County boards and city councils in Northern Virginia and the Maryland suburbs also aren’t throwing opening the doors to the public quite yet.
During quarantine, some locals are making new professional connections using Zoom and other teleconferencing platforms.
