General consensus seems to be that the snow was fun for a while, but has turned into a dangerous and unwelcome nuisance. Most people will stay indoors today; most people couldn’t get out even if they wanted to. But that doesn’t mean that a few-hundred 20-somethings won’t be showing up in Dupont Circle at 2 p.m. for yet another planned snowball fight.

The so-named “Official Dupont Circle Snowball Fight” is on, a North-South rematch born from Saturday’s original event. Is that people who live North of the Circle or South of it? Or if you grew up in New York or Philly, you’re facing off against Floridians and Virginia grads? It’s really of little consequence, as long as you hit someone in the face with a cold, powdery ball of snow. And the wind doesn’t throw you out of the park and into a snow plow or Hummer trying to drive by.

Just as with the Saturday spectacle, word is spreading through Facebook and Twitter, but also through the blogosphere and the heavy mainstream media attention that the brand has garnered. Press releases have gone out to DCist and others. The Washington Post covered the first fight. WUSA 9 says their camera crews will be there this afternoon to cover the action.

And now there’s merchandising! The fight’s organizers have commissioned a logo—a blue banner with the Dupont Circle fountain in the center and street map of the nabe in the background. T-shirts, mugs, and magnets emblazoned with the logo are available online with a portion of the profits—an undesignated amount—going to Haiti relief.

On their Facebook page, the organizers implore participants to keep it “clean and safe.” Remember, it’s really just never a good idea to throw anything, snowball or otherwise, at a police officer.
