Instead of the expected snowball fight in Dupont Circle, organizers will hold a snow sculpture contest today.

The Washington D.C. Snowball Fight Association explains the “simple rules: Finish your snowman by 1:30 p.m., when we plan to start the judging.” They’re also recommending forming teams, bringing props and spoons (for carving), and using the existing environment. There doesn’t seem to be any rule against throwing snow at other people, but do this at your own risk.

There’s also an open invitation to all mayoral candidates to judge the politically-themed creation. Yes, we’ll check to see if any are coming.

Update: Candidate and Councilmember Muriel Bowser showed up to judge.
