(Eventually, Inauguration organizers were able to wrangle up 5,000 portable toilets.) But the Jon Stewart/Stephen Colbert “Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear” on October 30 is experiencing a similar problem, albeit on a much smaller scale. WTOP reports that Comedy Central organizers are having trouble getting enough port-a-potties to serve an expected 65,000 attendees — the issue is complicated further since the Marine Corps Marathon, also scheduled for that weekend, already has dibs on 800 temporary johns for the same day. Normally, the Park Service recommends one toilet for every 300 people, which would mean that Stewart and Colbert need to find slightly over 200 to meet the absolutely minimal demand. We’re confident that they’ll work it out — but using the bathroom before you head down that day just in case doesn’t sound like a bad idea.
