To satisfy your Wizards fix, DCist is teaming up with Kyle Weidie and Rashad Mobley of Truth About It, who will take turns penning a column on Washington’s professional basketball team every week throughout the season. You can read Kyle and Rashad on all things Wiz here.

Friday night, the Washington Wizards will take on the Orlando Magic. This is one of a handful of games — along with Celtics, the Heat and the Lakers — that should sell out the Verizon Center, and bring droves of fans to downtown D.C. bars.

Dwight Howard is having a dominant, All-Star year, and he will be making his second and final appearance in Washington (unless the Wizards make the playo…never mind). Unversity of Maryland fans will have yet another opportunity to boo and root against Duke University grads, J.J. Redick and Chris Duhon — which is especially apropos considering the Terps and Blue Devils play in College Park tonight. And finally, the Wizards have been absolutely abysmal on the road, but they’ve beaten good teams like the Utah Jazz and the Boston Celtics at home, so they have more than a fighting chance to come out victorious on Friday’ night.

Those reasons, along with Ted Leonsis’ continued dedication to cater and listen to the fans, are more than enough to lure you into watching this game. But if you’re still skeptical and bit hesitant to commit your time and money to a 13-35 (0-25 on the road) team, allow me to give you an additional reason to tune in: Gilbert Arenas.
