Photo by BrianMKA.This morning, Martin asked: if Charlie Sheen could get a police escort from Dulles International Airport to DAR Constitution Hall, why couldn’t he? Well, maybe if he ponied up $445, he could find out. That’s apparently how much Sheen’s promoters, Live Nation, paid for two officers for a speedy lift from the airport to his gig in D.C. on Tuesday night, according to Metropolitan Police Department Chief Cathy Lanier. Of course, there’s also the little issue with it being against the rules: Lanier told WTOP’s Neil Augenstein that celebrities aren’t eligible to get a ride from the cops (only the President, Vice President, Mayor and visiting heads of state are), and that police sirens and lights aren’t allowed to be used outside the District for details.
Lanier also added that she was “100 percent confident the proper procedure was not followed for a reimbursable detail.”
