Duh, suing! (Photo by Matthew Straubmuller)
A high-ranking—but not as high-ranking as he used to be—Metropolitan Police Department officer made good on his threat to file a whistleblower suit against the department suit over a demotion he says happened because he blamed MPD leadership for authorizing a motorcade last year for Charlie Sheen.
Capt. Hilton Burton was busted down from commander last August, a few months after he sent emails saying that MPD routinely provides motorcade services to “any and everybody,” when it comes to visiting, ahem, dignitaries.
When Sheen landed at Dulles International Airport last April for his show at DAR Constitution Hall, he was whisked along the trip from the airport to D.C. by an MPD escort.
Before his demotion, Burton had commanded the Special Operations Division. Now he works in MPD’s medical service’s branch.
Burton is asking for $6 million in damages plus a promotion back to his old rank, the Associated Press reports.
