With DC Beer Week in the books, we can bring our focus back to all beer here in the city, not just local. The nation’s third-largest craft brewer, New Belgium Brewing, expanded into the Maryland, Virginia and D.C. markets this week.

Since 2008, when New Belgium entered the East Coast market by invading North Carolina, many ex-pats from all over the country have pined for many of their beers, especially their flagship Fat Tire amber ale. Fat Tire often gets the limelight — both as a “gateway” beer and a source of disdain for being part of the surge in popularity attributed to craft beer in recent years. However, there are many other beers the Ft. Collins brewer makes that appeals to a range of tastes.

Ranger IPA satiates those hopheads with a palate-frying 70 IBUs. The Trippel was the crowd pleaser at the recent unveiling event Premium distribution hosted for the brewery — a quick hop bite led into intense pear and banana flavors, yet finished dry and satisfying. Also available are the Fall Seasonal Hoptober, and some stores will carry the brewer’s Lips of Faith series which includes a collaboration with Montgomery County’s bringer of the heavy-groove Clutch.

After the initial rollout of these beers, more will follow in both draft and bottles in the coming months. While there will undoubtedly be many more places to carry New Belgium’s beers in the future, here are the places who currently are carrying 22oz. bombers inside the District:
