D.C. police yesterday released a video of a car they say is connected to the vicious beating of a 29-year-old man outside an Eastern Market home on August 18.

The video shows a 2005 silver Hyundai Sonata rolling into a gas station on Pennsylvania Avenue SE, only blocks from where the attack on Thomas C. Maslin. Police say that three suspects in the car attempted to use Maslin’s credit card at the station.

During the robbery, Maslin was hit on the head with a blunt object. Since then, he has remained hospitalized and undergone two surgeries, though his wife Abigail told reporters yesterday that his condition was improving. The couple has a 21-month-old son.

According to WJLA, over 100 Capitol Hill residents gathered yesterday to express their concerns to Councilmember Tommy Wells (D-Ward 6) and D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier over an increase in violent robberies in the neighborhood. Lanier asked residents for any help in identifying the car.
