Councilmember Tommy Wells (D-Ward 6) will participate in a Reddit “Ask Me Anything” chat next week. At least he thinks so.

After asking “Who is Reddit?” Wells told DCist by phone he intends to do one, but wasn’t quite clear on the details.

Daniel Conner, Wells’ interim campaign manager, filled in the details and confirmed that the D.C. mayoral candidate will do an AMA on Thursday, September 5, at 6 p.m. The thread will be posted at 5 p.m., according to the organizing Redditors.

“We feel like it’s an opportunity for us to get some of Tommy’s platform out there to a group of people who we may not have access to,” Conner said, adding that it’s a good way to listen to people as well.

“We see it as a means, a way to share information,” Conner said of Reddit, adding that they will sit down with the candidate to make sure he knows how to use it first.
