A Wegmans planned for Alexandria, Va. will open in 2015, the company announced this week, while a possible D.C. site is still in question.

The Wegmans at the Hilltop Village Center, located deep in Fairfax County suburbia at Telegraph Road and Beulah Street, is one of ten stores Wegmans plans to open over the next two years.

There are already four Wegmans within 25 miles of D.C., including in Fairfax, Va. and Lanham, Md. But when will D.C. propose get its own?

A Wegmans was part of Roadside Development’s plan for Walter Reed, but the city selected Hines and Urban Atlantic to redevelop the 67-acre site instead. At the time, Jo Natale, Wegmans’ director of media relations, said the company was “disappointed in the decision, because we have a good partnership with Roadside and thought they developed a great plan.”

When asked about a possible Wegmans at Walter Reed today, Natale said in an email, “We are in talks with the developer, but we do not have a deal as yet.”
