
It’s only been open for a little over a week, but people are flocking en masse to ride the new Silver Line.
According to WMATA, nearly 220,000 trips have been taken to or from the five new Silver Line stations in the first week of service. Breaking down those stats, WMATA says that an average 15,942 people boarded a Silver Line train at one one the new stations during the week, which they say is “roughly two-thirds of the way to achieving the project’s goal of 25,000 weekday boardings after one year of service.”
As predicted, the Wiehle-Reston East station is the most frequented of the Silver Line stations, with 92,274 trips in the first week of service. Tysons Corner comes in second with 34,930 trips. You can see the total breakdown of trips in the first week of service for each new station below:
