Police are searching for a man they say sexually assaulted a woman at gunpoint in a home near the Benning Road Metro station.
The assault occurred on Friday at approximately 11 p.m. in the 5000 block of Benning Road NE, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 6’0” in height, medium build, medium complexion, with a dark skull cap, and armed with a handgun.
While police put out a release with information about one suspect, WJLA says more than one person was involved:
It began with an act of kindness around 1 a.m. at a gas station in Camp Springs, Md., where a woman asked the victim for a ride to Benning Road in Southeast D.C. so she could meet up with her boyfriend.
The victim obliged, but police say when she arrived, two men armed with a shotgun took her into an abandoned row house, where other men were waiting. The victim says the men took turns raping her in a bedroom for hours.
While police combed the house for evidence, neighbors said the residence had been empty for weeks. They hadn’t noticed a group of men hanging out there.
Police also publicized the sexual assaults of two women in Northwest D.C. last week, one in Dupont Circle, the other in Georgetown.
Anyone with information is asked to call 202-727-9099.
