Update: Red Line trains will continue operating on a single track between Grosvenor and Twinbrook through the evening rush, according to Metro. Put another way, expect a delayed, crowded, unpleasant commute home.
And, in a reverse from the morning, inbound trains will bypass Twinbrook and Grosvenor. Metro advises riders at those stations to use the outbound trains before heading back into town.

The Washington Post reported earlier that there was an unexplained oil spill near the Medical Center stop.
Original ():
Red Line trains are subject to 10-15 minute delays as a result of a track problem outside of Grosvenor, which has resulted in single tracking through Twinbrook.
To reduce said delays, outbound trains are also bypassing White Flint and Twinbrook. Metro recommends using inbound trains (yes, the ones that are delayed) to head in the opposite direction before getting on a train going where you need to go.
Oh, also, riders report broken escalators at the Dupont Circle station.
@MartinDiCaro our driver is reporting a 3 MPH limit for the trains in the single track section.

But on the bright side, a couple of experienced operators seemed to have lightened the mood at least a little bit.
