It’s beginning to look a lot like…. springtime?

Temperatures this week will surge toward historic highs in the upper 70s, according to the Capital Weather Gang. Thursday’s temperatures are expected to be about 30 degrees warmer than average “and more than high enough to break record highs,” CWG reports.

The Christmas Eve record high in D.C.—set in 1933—is 69 degrees, according to AccuWeather, which reports record-breaking temperatures across the entire East Coast this week.

While there may be a chance of showers, Thursday’s humidity might still make it a day to don some shorts. And as you may have guessed, the D.C. region will certainly not be white on Christmas. The CWG predicts skies as partly to mostly sunny with temperatures peaking in the lower to mid 60s.

But the truth is, snow hasn’t touched the District’s grounds on Christmas since 2002—and that was less than an inch. In fact, in the past 127 years, it’s snowed on Christmas in D.C. less than ten times.

So what’s your best bet this week? Grab a classic cocktail and toast to the warmth of the holidays.
