Metro is now displaying photographs taken by Kevin Sutherland, a 24-year-old stabbed to death on the Red Line last July 4.
The photos of D.C. landmarks are hanging at the NoMa-Gallaudet Station, after Sutherland’s family reached out to Metro’s Art in Transit program.
“It is a very emotional thing for us to see our son’s photography displayed in the NoMa station,” Douglas Sutherland, Kevin’s father, said in a Metro release. “Kevin had many gifts and he was becoming a very talented, self-taught photographer. We will never stop wondering about the beauty he would have captured had his life not been cut so short.”
Jasper Spires, now 19 years old, has been charged with stabbing and killing Sutherland on a train near the NoMa station during an alleged botched robbery.
