In a further sign that the capital is battening down the hatches, it appears that 15th Street adjacent to the Treasury Department headquarters will face increased security. The Post reports that the sidewalk would be shut down, and truck traffic would be banned.

Restrictions would be similar to 17th Street on the other side of the White House complex where the Old Executive Office Building borders the street. But parts of the facade of the Treasury Department actually extend over the sidewalk. The 17th Street sidewalk is set apart from thee OEOB by a large fence.

The Post also notes that the security checkpoints on Capitol Hill are causing delays on WMATA bus lines, including everyone’s favorite love-to-hate always-delayed bus line, the 30s (30, 32, 34, 35, 36/Pennsylvania Ave. Line). DCist thinks that the checkpoints might actually delay the buses so much that the 30s will actually get back on schedule.
