From DCist contributor Catherine Andrews:

What do you have going this weekend? Here’s what caught our eye.

FRIDAY:

  • The director’s cut of Donnie Darko is opening at Visions Cinema tonight. Check out yesterday’s Live Online chat with director Richard Kelly. Neccessary reading: Salon’s “Everything you were afraid to ask about Donnie Darko”

  • Hurrah for free stuff! 9:30 Club is having a free concert, featuring Taking Back Sunday, The Honorary Title and Stars Hide Fire. 21+.

  • Usher and Kayne West do the MCI Center tonight; we hear that Kayne, who’s new album is getting mucho critical acclaim, will be appearing at an after-party at Kili’s Kafe and Lounge (maybe with Usher?).

    SATURDAY:

  • The Virginia Wine Festival starts today at 11 a.m. and goes through Sunday. Party DC is offering an All-Inclusive Virginia Wine Festival Bus Trip for $39, which includes a bus ride to and from the festival and admission.

  • Marty McFly lives: the Comcast Outdoor Film Festival continues with the “Back to the Future” at Strathmore in Bethesda. The film starts at 8:30, and it’s free.

  • The Child Ballads, comprised of members formerly of Jonathan Fire*Eater, play DC9. $7.

    SUNDAY:

  • Ever been to Moscow? Moscow … Maine, that is. Brad Herzog has, and he’s just written a book, “Small World: A Microcosmi Journey”, about weirdly-named small American towns and the eccentric folks that populate them. His book tour comes to Olsson’s on 19th at 1 p.m.

  • Ponies, pig races and petting zoos – sounds like our kind of fun! The Arlington County Fair finishes up today. (Wait, doesn’t Arlington County lack farms?)
