This week’s Animal Watch is filled with many reports of neglected dogs, or dogs just getting into trouble. A Presa Canario bit his owner at a park on Branch Avenue SE … a dog owner was charged with cruelty to animals when a necropsy report revealed that a dog found dead chained to a pole on Ascot Place NE died of heat stroke … three pit bulls that prevented an Aspen Street NW home owner from getting into his house were euthanized … and it appears that a Rottweiler had a run-in with an opossum. Animal control officers, who found the injured dog in a pen with dirty water and bread crumbs, euthanized the dog.

In a quick note about some felines, a cat owner on Eads Place NE surrendered his cats to animal control when a “relative had threatened to harm them.”
