Look out from above! Beware of bats, and watch your pets. District health officials are warning residents of a rabies threat from bats and want residents to fix broken screens, vents or any other part of your home where bats can find their way inside. In fact, 14 rabies-infected bats, four rabid cats and eight rabid raccoons have been found, the health department reports.

In a health department press release, “We strongly advise residents against capturing bats themselves. … Children and pets in particular should be watched closely to ensure that they do not attempt to touch wild animals.”
