Independent Dupont area theater Visions Cinema Bistro Lounge, located at 1927 Florida Avenue, is closing.
Early this evening an attendant behind the counter confirmed the business was closing, but said he didn’t know when. The twentysomething manager told us to call back during business hours for more information, and when pressed for details waxed dramatic, replying “I’m not at liberty to say.”
The closing was lamented by Metroblogging D.C. contributor “joshsisk” who said it was the first place he worked after moving to Washington D.C.:
It was where I got a job when I arrived here, penniless. It’s where I rang up an $800 bar tab on my 26th birthday. It’s where almost everyone I know here worked at one point or another. I loved going there, I loved the people who worked there, I felt at home there. But no home lasts forever, I guess?
Until next Thursday, Sept. 23, all film screenings at Visions will be $5. Currently showing is Brown Bunny, Donnie Darko The Director’s Cut, and the documentary Hijacking Catastrophe.
