Is former WUSA Channel 9 morning weatherperson Hillary Howard coming to WJLA? Our source at WJLA Channel 7 reported seeing the news personality in the building a few times in the past couple of weeks, including this morning.
The Washington Times reported on Howard’s departure from WUSA:
Of all the questionable personnel moves WUSA-TV (Channel 9) has made lately, none has fired up readers of this column as much as the CBS affiliate’s decision to dump Hillary Howard, its morning weather forecaster since 2000…WUSA’s general manager, Darryll J. Green, told Ms. Howard in September that the station wants to go in “a different direction” with a new forecaster. Other managers have suggested that letting the popular Ms. Howard go is a mistake.
Their curiosity peaked, our spy did some digging. Apparently, office gossip around the station is that the laid off Howard will soon begin freelancing for WJLA. No word on whether or not she’ll be behind the weather desk this time.
If Howard is indeed coming to WJLA she’ll be reunited with old colleagues, Doug Hill, Maureen Bunyan and the recently added Gordon Peterson.
