Once again DCist brings you our Redksins coverage from Jason Linkins (aka The DCeiver)

Time and again the Redskins have looked at their schedule and found there’s been one team in the league that has always stepped up and offered themselves up for defeat. Call them the Detroit Sacrificial Lions. We’ve won 24 of the last 34 meetings with Detroit. And as a playoff opponent, they make the bye week look scary. Heck, if a Washington fan had no other opportunity to watch Detroit play, outside of the games we had scheduled with them, they’d wonder why so many people loved Barry Sanders so much.

Will the historical dominance continue in a week where the Redskins, newly freed from electoral destiny but bitterly resentful at the phantom call that demolished a spirited comeback against the Pack, desperately need that gimme win? There are some good signs: as woeful as the Redskins offense has been, Detroit’s has been worse—ranked dead last in the league. Don’t let the weekly highlight reel of yet another Circque du Soleil reception from a Lion wideout snow you. And defensively, the Lions have been about as stout as gift wrap.
