On the heels of the latest controversy, DCist notes that there’s been more baseball confusion surrounding our “team to be named later.” First, the Post reported that a plan for purchasing season tickets in 2005 will be unveiled today. We’re nearing the close of the business day and DCist has been hitting refresh on a number of baseball websites — with no plan in sight. Though the Expos president, Tony Tavares, states that past delays “had nothing to do with the council’s postponement of the stadium vote,” DCist wonders what effect the ongoing stadium fued between Williams and Cropp is going to have on our tentative plans to see baseball in D.C. in the near future.

On top of this confusion, DCist mentioned a few weeks ago that the schedule for the new team has been finalized. Well, the powers-that-be at Major League Baseball seem to disagree. Although the Post was quick to note that the announced schedule was subject to change, the advertised 2005 schedule for the now-defunct Expos looks nothing like the schedule as reported in the Post. Of course, Major League Baseball also states that that schedule is only tentative.

DCist is starting to get a little frustrated. Can we at least have a team name and logo to accompany our numerous baseball posts? And when will the inevitable I-95 showdown take place between our team and the Baltimore Orioles? Oh well. There’s always the Baysox.
