The Redskins take a dip into their nonconference schedule this weekend as the Cincinnati Bengals come to town with former Skins’ defensive guru Marvin Lewis at the steering wheel. The Bengals have steadily gained respect around the league under Lewis’ tutelage, though they have shot themselves in the foot of late with their insanely garish uniform choices, which call to mind the Clemson University Marching Band after a tragic skydiving accident.

Compared to last season, the Bengals are underperforming. But last week, Cincinnati absolutely horsewhipped the Dallas Cowboys in a game where everything seemed to click into place for an afternoon. But if you are expecting that sort of dominance this weekend out of the Bengals, we’d suggest you curb your enthusiasm—Cincinnati has yet to win on the road, and the strength of their running game is likely to get shut down by the Skins rushing defense — still tops in the league. And I’ll stand by that, too. My fantasy football team — the Lauriol Plaza Leftists — will be benching Rudi Johnson in favor of Willis McGahee this week. So put that in your pipe and inhale, people.
