DCist was pleased to see that station managers at a certain Tube station in London are in the business of passing on good karma to their passengers. Londonist reports that the station managers at the Oval station on the Northern Line are passing on their Thoughts of the Day to passengers who pass through their faregates.
We think that any positive pass-along transit karma is good and were very pleased to learn that WMATA will be introducing comment cards where you can praise transit employees for the good service they do. In fact, according to the AP, you will be able to give WMATA station managers a “high five” by nominating them for station manager of the week. Perhaps if the transit riding public better appreciates the everyday transit employees who serve us, we will through some supernatural transit force be better treated by them.
While that probably won’t get escalators repaired any faster or a new crosstown subway dug any sooner, it’s a start. We’re assuming the station manager at the Potomac Avenue station (yes, the guy who went after a pregnant woman with a broom) won’t be nominated for favorite station manager …
