Paris Hilton, who was in Washington before Thanksgiving, brought her “film crew and entourage” to SomaFit on Wisconsin Avenue and “commandeered” the “posh” gym, according to MSNBC’s Jeannette Walls. It was apparently for a reality television show, Paris had a pedicure and Walls’ source says that the hotel heiress has big feet.

Since Ms. Hilton was filmed sans “Simple Life” co-star Nicole Richie, perhaps Paris has a new reality show in the works. DCist speculates that the filming could also have been for Mother Hilton’s new reality show, where the mother of Paris and Nikki takes average middle-income Gap-wearing ladies and turns them into Bergdorf blondes.

The location of SomaFit caused DCist to wonder what was up with that forgotten stretch of Wisconsin Avenue (pictured above from Holy Rood Cemetery), where pedestrians are few, the winter winds strong, 3:45 a.m. motorcades eerie and the architecture a strange jumble of unremarkable one-story storefronts, brick and steel offices and random older buildings (from the era when Wisconsin Avenue was the city’s major gateway from points to the northwest…).

On that strip of Wisconsin, just up the hill from the Holiday Inn and Social Safeway near the gate to the old Georgetown University-affiliated cemetery, there is an odd collection of businesses (furniture, wine seller, funeral home, language center, CVS, WB50, opposition research firms, China’s embassy/dorm annex and the wellness center/spa with large posters of odd medieval-looking wooden torture devices with relaxed happy people) and China’s relatively anonymous embassy annex, just down the road from Glover Park’s busy epicenter, the neighborhood Whole Foods.

The SomaFit visit is an odd neighborhood milestone, of sorts. When your most-discreet magnanimous local — that being Vice President Cheney — sleeps nearby, what does it mean when a not-really discreet celeb traffics the same corridor?
