DCist received a brand new credit card in the mail this weekend. It didn’t strike us as a blog worthy happening until we read the not so fine print and discovered that our new Citibak credit card came with a Metro SmarTrip fare card built right in!

The enclosed promotional material helpfully states:

Something good is coming your way fast! We’ve partnered with the Washington Metropolitan Area Tranist Authority to bring you a combined credit card and SmarTrip card…Now that your credit card and farecard are combined into one, there’s one less card to carry in your wallet! It’s a faster way to use Metro!

We admit that it took us a few minutes to wrap our heads around the idea. Did we really need a magic all in one card? Now instead of two slim plastic cards, we’d only have one! How much lighter our wallets will now be!
