Stadium Deal To Be Approved Today: The Post reports a letter from Major League Baseball sweetening the deal for the city has swung the vote of Council Chairman Linda W. Cropp, who said yesterday she would probably vote to support the legislation. NBC4 summarizes other last-minute jockeying that occurred yesterday.
Metro Prepared for Winter: WMATA pledges they have made changes to keep their Metrorail trains rolling in the event of inclement weather, the AP and the W. Times report. Among the changes are a de-icing spray mounted in the front of trains, new heating strips on the 3rd rail, and weatherproofing the bottom of some cars. However, in the event of 8 inches or more of snow, Metro “plans to run only underground trains at 30-minute intervals as crews clear the above-ground rails.” The Times story describes where trains will operate in snow.
