This Friday is the first Friday of the month, and that means the Dupont Circle galleries will have their extended hours for the monthly gallery crawl. Most galleries will have refreshments and many of the artists will be present. The receptions generally last from 6-8 p.m.
>> While you’re visiting the Dupont Circle area galleries on Friday, don’t miss the opening reception for Ellen Winkler at Washington Printmakers Gallery. The exhibition features dry points, monotypes, drawings and oil paintings by Winkler, whose intimate work boasts not only superb technical skill, but also outstanding composition and an ability to capture the nuances of the subject, be it a small, local landscape, or a couple of figs on a bare surface. Winkler’s Study is shown to the right. The gallery is at 1732 Connecticut Ave. NW (upstairs).
>> And just a few steps from the Washington Printmakers Gallery, Irving Contemporary Art has Amy Ross and Robert Gutierrez in a two-person show that marks the debut of the artists in our area. As part of the exhibition Ross created a site-specific wall drawing across the Main Gallery’s 23 foot wall (see images here).
